Recipe: Blood Orange Sorbet

My friend Jackie requested I post my Blood Orange Sorbet recipe on the blog.  It's super easy, can be prepared up to 1 week prior to serving, and makes your whole house smell like sweet, warm oranges!  Oh yeah, and it's the most delicious dessert ever.
You will need:
Enough blood oranges to produce 1 cup of juice
Zest from said quantity
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Ice cube tray
Food Processor or Blender
You could easily half this recipe-- but then you will only have half the deliciousness!
Ok, first things first.  Zest and juice your oranges one at a time, until you have 1 cup of juice.
In a sauce pan, add your zest to 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar.  Stir well.  Bring to a boil over medium heat.  Allow mixture to boil for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 15 minutes.
Then strain your mixture.  Add 1 cup of blood orange juice and continue to let it cool.
When your liquid is room temperature, move it to the refrigerator.  After some time, pour your cold liquid into an ice cube tray and freeze.
I usually let my cubes freeze overnight, but if you made this in the morning they might be ready in the evening.  After your cubes are frozen solid, you can pop them out and store them in a Ziplock until ready to use.
When you're ready to make your sorbet, place a single layer of cubes in your food processor.  Pulse until just right before you have the perfect consistency-- if that makes any sense!  If you blend your sorbet to how you would like it, it will continue to melt and be soupy in the bowl.  If you slightly under-blend it, you will have a soft, lovely, and semi-shapely sorbet!
Serve immediately.  Enjoy!

Sometimes I want to write food post after food post on Mister G and Me.  I guess I'm just a hungry girl.  I've been trying to limit recipe posts to once a week.  What do you think?

Have a great weekend loves!!! xo, Ashley
P.S. Here are some more delicious blood orange recipes for you!

Luxury Wedding Invitations | Pink and Orange Crystal Adorned Wedding Invitations

I LOVE color! And when we were asked to design Lauren's luxury wedding invitations using hot pinks and oranges, I was in love. She wanted her country club wedding to reflect her and her personality and she is not a shy bride and wanted to let her guest's know that this was a fabulous event not to be missed!
Lela New York created these boxed invitations using Hot pink silk with contrasting orange on the inside. We added a bit of crystal embellishment to the inside and had her invitations letterpressed.
