Julia Gillard- first female Prime Minister of Australia!

Wow what a historic day it is today 24th June 2010.

News just in that Julia Gillard is now officially the Prime Minister of Australia! Good on her. What a fantastic opportunity for her career. She is known as the most powerful female politician. She has worked very hard to get to where she is in her career, and is the first female to be prime minister.

A few things about her history that I have read about her  - born 29 September 1961, she graduated from University of Melbourne with a arts and law degree in 1986. In 1987 she got a job with Slater and Gordon and she became the first female partner in 1990 for Slater and Gordon. She entered politics in 1998.

To me:  Jullia Gillard seems to be confident in herself and she knows who she is. She seems to have the qualities to be able to do the job. I have seen her on morning shows and she doesn’t let other people tell her what to do,  although being a reserved person she knows how to shrug off personal attacks and get on with the job. She seems to be incredibly resilient and a intelligent woman.

Is this the right decision to boot Kevin Rudd out before an election and choose Julia Gillard? I dont know.

Kevin Rudd was elected by the nation and he did do a lot of good things, like lead the country out of the worst recession. Improved  education, reformed the health system, made the biggest investment in cancer services,  introduced the first paid parental leave, increasing social housing, Australia part of G20,  and many more things.

What do you think about Julia Gillard now being the Prime Minister? leave a comment
