Do's and Don'ts on getting your Best Photos | Lela shares her portrait shoot | Photos by Trent Bailey

The other day I had the pleasure of having my portraits done with the amazing Trent Bailey. I love his lovely photography! It always feels so pretty and light. A true pro! Thanks goes out to him and to Gabriella from Gabriella New York Bridal Salon for letting us shoot in her beautiful bridal salon.

There are many occasions that you can get pro photos taking during your wedding day celebrations and especially for your engagement. It's tons of fun and you'll be happy that you have those memories to share.

Here are some Do's and Don't's to help you along on your portrait or engagement shoot.

1. DO Wear solid color or brights.
DON'T wear too many patterns in contrasting colors. It takes away from you and is distracting in the photos.

2. DO have your hair and makeup did ;)
DON'T wait till the day of to figure out your hair or makeup. Even a casual photo shoot can look sloppy or not as good if you had taken the time to either get that makeup or hair trial or even trying some looks on yourself before the day of the shoot.

3) DO look like yourself
DON'T have your hair in a formal updo if you never wear one. Same with your makeup, don't do the crazy dark smokey eye if you never wear one. This isn't to say not to play up your makeup. You are gonna want to add a little more, remembering that the camera usually bleaches out most of it.

4) DO get your engagement shots and other celebration photographs taken by a true pro.
DON'T miss out on those great opportunities in life by documenting your celebrations and especially your engagement. It will also help in practicing that winning smile for your big day :)

5) DO have fun and enjoy it!
DON'T stress and pose with every shot. Some of the best shots are taken when you aren't looking and are natural. Trust your photographer to capture these moments.
